Services & Programs

Crisis Line
  • Provides confidential crisis intervention, counselling, information and referrals on a 24 hour basis; we do not use call display
  • Assists women in identifying their immediate needs and develops a plan for meeting those needs consistent with their personal circumstances
  • Helps women with the development and revision of personal protection plans for themselves and their children
  • Provides information and education with respect to abuse, including the cycle of abuse and the profile of an abuser, as it relates to each individual woman
  • Appointments for on-site counselling can be made by women upon request
Residential Services
  • Provide a short-term, safe and supportive residential environment for women and their children
  • Women participating in Residential Services will receive a comprehensive intake and assessment, and crisis intervention counselling within 24 hours of intake
  • Individual counselling is provided to each woman for a minimum of one hour for each 24-hour period in residence; support groups are also available for women
  • Protection Order Designates are on site to assist with Protection Order Applications
Non-Residential Services
  • Non-residential clients may access all shelter services, including individual counselling and weekly support groups, while choosing alternative accommodations in the community
  • The service includes a prevention component as women do not need to be in crisis to participate
  • Support groups include: Anger Solutions for Men and Women, Healthy Relationships, Domestic Violence Awareness, Self-Esteem, Nobody's Perfect Parenting, Triple P Parenting, and other weekly drop groups
Follow-up Services
  • Provide assistance to women who may have participated in residential and/or non-residential shelter programs
  • Ensure a continuum of support to women and children after the need for intensive services has passed
  • Open to women who may or may not have left their partner, but continue to require shelter support services
  • Services include: individual counselling, support groups, home visits, referrals to community resources, and advocacy with other services
Children & Youth Program
  • Provide support for the children of abused women while they are residing in the shelter and after leaving the shelter
  • Intended to assist in breaking the secret of abuse and understanding the dynamics of abuse in the context of family relationships
  • Developmentally appropriate individual and group counselling is provided based on the individual needs of the child
  • Individual counselling and support groups are available for the mother/guardian on parenting and other issues related to her child(ren) (e.g. Nobody's Perfect Parenting, Triple P Parenting)
