Life at the Shelter
Residents are prohibited from consuming alcohol or using drugs while staying at the shelter.
We offer clean and comfortable bedrooms that can accommodate single women or larger families. The kitchen, living room and dining room are shared with other residents. There is also a play area for children.
Residents are responsible for their own children. Though depending on the circumstances and time permitting, counsellors will occasionally mind the children.
We will devise a safety plan with you to ensure that you can continue to work.
We do not allow visitors in the shelter, except for caseworkers or other advocates.
Counsellors will strive to assist you in securing alternative safe housing for when your stay is over. However, we can only act as an advocate for you and it is your responsibility to complete the necessary steps and paperwork.
We recommend that you keep in contact with our counsellors and join follow-up individual and group programs. If you are moving out of our region, we will supply you with the appropriate referrals to help you get settled in that area.
